NAVRATRI SPECIAL SABUDANA & ALOO TIKKI


JAI MATA DI..... DAY 4 OF NAVRATRI
On this day we worship MAA KUSHMANDA

The word Kushmanda is made of three words that are "Ku"-means Little +"Ushma"-means warmth or energy +"Anda"- means egg

Combining all it means one who create the universe as "little cosmic egg" with energy of her divine smile is called "Kushmanda"

She has eight hands, seven types of weapons in her seven hands and rosary in her right hand.

NAVRATRI SPECIAL DAY -4
Ingredients:

  • Boiled and mashed potatoes (ubaale aur massle huye aloo )- 4-5
  • Sago (sabudana)- 150gms washed and soaked in lukewarm water for 1 hour (dhulle aur ek ghante tak gungunne pani mein bhigoye huye)
  • Red chilly powder (pissi lal mirch)- one fourth teaspooon
  • Salt- to taste
  • Refined for deep frying
METHOD TO PREPARE SABUDANA & ALOO TIKKI:

  • Heat refined oil in deep frying pan/kadhai
  • Drain excess water from sabudana and keep aside
  • Mix boiled and mashed potatoes with soaked sabudana, salt and red chilly powder and mix well with hands
  • Grease your hands with oil and make small balls of potato sabudana mixture and flatten it firmly to shape it in form of tikki
  • Deep fry tikki till it turns golden brown
  • Remove tikki and place on tissue/ kitchen towel to separate excess oil.
Serve hot tikki with imli chutney, curd or tea
