NAVRATRI SPECIAL THREE LAYER RICE CAKE

Yesss...... I am talking about Vrat Recipe only... 

So that when you cook something for your family or invite your friends.....Surprise and Impress them with your creativity with food.... : )

So.... lets get started...


NAVRATRI SPECIAL THREE LAYER RICE CAKE



For 2-3 Servings

INGREDIENTS :

  • Swaank Rice (Vrat ke Swaank ke chawal) - 1 cup
  • Boiled and mashed potatoes (Ubaale huye massle huye aloo)- 3-4 medium size
  • Tomato and green chili puree (lal tamatar aur hari mirch pissi huyi)- 2 big tomatoes and 1 big green chili
  • Cumin seeds (jeera) - 1/4th teaspoon
  • Dry Coriander Powder (sookha dhaniya pissa hua)- 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dry Mango Powder (pissa hua amchoor) - 1/4th teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder (lal mirch pissi huyi) - 1/4th teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder (haldi pissi huyi) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste (Namak swaad anusar)
  • Refined oil - 2-3 spoons
  • Green coriander leaf for garnishing (sajaawat ke liye harre dhaniye ka patta )
HOW TO MAKE:
  • Wash rice thoroughly and boil with 3 cups of water and little salt, till rice turns tender and water get absorbed. Then keep aside.
  • In a pan, heat one and half spoons of oil. Then add haldi, red chili powder, coriander powder, amchoor, and mashed potatoes and salt to taste. Saute for 2-3 minutes stirring continuously. Keep aside.
  •  In another pan, heat 1/2 teaspoon oil, add cumin seeds and let it crackle. 
  • Then add tomato and green chili puree and pinch of salt and reduce it into thick paste stirring continuously on medium flame. Keep aside.
HOW TO ARRANGE:
  • Let rice, potatoes and tomato chutney reach room temperature.
  • Grease a glass bowl . Set a layer of 1/3rd of rice and flatten with light hand. 
  • Next flatten mashed potatoes over the rice layer lightly
  • Again take half of the left over rice and flatten a layer over mashed potatoes.
  • Then apply evenly layer of tomato chutney over the layer of rice.
  • Lastly, set leftover rice as final layer.
  • With light hands, press and flatten the last layer of rice.
  • Take a serving plate and cover it upside down covering the bowl.
  • Carefully,do upside down the bowl and tap over the plate, so that layered rice comes out in a shape of cake.
  • Garnish with coriander leaf.
